with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra

I write music for film, theatre, opera, choirs, and more. I've scored dozens of international documentary films broadcast on BBC, PBS, CBC, ABC (Australia) and other networks.

My opera, Pauline, with libretto by author Margaret Atwood, premiered in Vancouver in 2014. Fallujah, my opera with libretto by Iraqi/American playwright Heather Raffo premiered with Long Beach Opera and New York City Opera in 2016. My first opera, The Vinedressers, has seen three productions, while my most recent, Rattenbury, premiered with Pacific Opera Victoria.

My music for children's and adult choirs is performed around the world, and has been published in the US, Canada, and France. My orchestral music has been commissioned and performed with various Canadian orchestras. My music has been recorded with the Vancouver Symphony, and orchestras in Prague, Moscow, and Bratislava. I've composed music for large events such as the 2010 Olympics and the XV Commonwealth Games.

Past residencies include the International Choral Kathaumixw, the Pacific Region International Summer Music Academy, the EU Urban Youth Choral Festival in Sweden, and the Victoria Symphony, Canada. I'm a recipient of various awards and grants. I also write opera libretti (text), lyrics for songs and musical theatre, and I dabble in playwriting and poetry. My passion for theatre collaboration also includes sound design and occasional musical direction.
